— The global goal is to inform people that full-fledged waste sorting is possible in our city, recyclables are a valuable resource and that one person can contribute to keeping the world clean and beautiful, - Ekaterina Komarova, the head of the Eco-Kursk Movement, told 7x7.

The action involved three passenger cars that were following a prearranged route. Everyone could bring recyclables to six designated points. According to the Social Information Agency, four activists who held the action collected 34 kg of waste paper, almost 21 kg of batteries, about 14 kg of metal, 19 kg of plastic, about 150 kg of glass, and 11.5 kg of caps. The money from the caps are for the rehabilitation of children with disabilities.

The action took place as part of the Eco-Dvor All-Russian Project, organized and coordinated in Kursk by Ekaterina Komarova. The project’s goal is to educate people in the field of ecology and introduce them to waste sorting.

— We used to hold Eco-Dvor every month. Mass events became impossible because of the pandemic, and we switched to online mode. And we decided to take recyclables, because there were many requests, — the activist said.

The residents of Kursk liked the action, but not everyone had a chance to join it. Eco-volunteers decided to repeat the city cleaning on June 13.

Eco-Taxi already functions in Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Kirov, Petrozavodsk, and other Russian cities.
