According to Alexander Tsybulsky, the Federal Railway Transport Agency’s order, opening station Shies for boarding/unloading passengers, commenced on September 21, the schedule is being adjusted.

At the same time, a few hours before Tsybulsky’s post was published, Znak.com reported with reference to the press office of the Severnaya Railway that they had not received any orders to adjust the schedule. The office service of the Severnaya Railway refused to tell the correspondent of 7x7 directly, whether the station was available for passengers, referring to the fact that the decision to open the station should be made by local authorities. The governor’s chamber could not give 7x7 any comments on the situation with the station and said that Tsybulsky was away on vacation.

The only train that could reach the abandoned village of Shies has not stopped there since June 26, 2019, protests against the construction of a landfill being at its height. Activists used to go to the tent camp of opponents of the object’s construction on this train. The management of Russian Railways said at that moment that they had replaced the stop for boarding/unloading passengers with the technical station in their schedule.

Alexander Tsybulsky, who replaced previous Governor Igor Orlov after his resignation, promised to close the ecotechnopark’s project. He promised to resume rail runs to the station at a meeting with activists of Shies at the end of August 2020.
